Our Maui Adventure: Week 1 Recap
Hi friends! I’m so excited to start sharing weekly roundups of our Maui adventures with you. I’ll be diving into what we wore, what we loved, and little tips along the way—especially helpful if you’re traveling with a toddler like we are!
Wednesday: Arrival & Settling In
Our flight went surprisingly well! I was anxious (what parent isn’t?), but everything went smoothly. If you’re traveling with little ones, check out my post on Tips for Flying With a Toddler—I promise it helps calm the nerves.
We grabbed our rental car, then made quick stops at Target and Safeway for groceries. Since we’re staying for a while, buying essentials was far more cost-effective than renting everything. We’re sending the pack ‘n play with my parents and bringing our stroller back with us. A few items that made the trip so much easier include:
- Graco Travel Gear
- Universal Thread basics
- Safety 1st toddler items
For our first day’s outfit, I went casual and comfy: a soft “Hangry” tee, high-waist leggings, and a denim jacket (sold out now). Miller rocked her Airplane Mode sweater, bows, and cute shoes—she looked adorable while staying comfy for the flight.
Thursday: Rainy Day Adventures
The week started with a lot of rain, so we mostly stayed indoors. If there was a break, I squeezed in a run. My Amazon tank top, $15 and unbelievably soft, became my instant favorite. Paired with a supportive strappy sports bra, shorts, and sneakers, I was ready for movement despite the gloomy weather.
That evening, we headed out to one of our favorite restaurants, Monkeypod. Highlights included:
- Mai Tais with passion fruit foam
- Potstickers
- Seared ahi tuna steak
- Strawberry pie (absolutely divine!)
I wore a colorful stripe dress with sandals and a pom tote, while Miller sported her matching Aloha top and shorts.
Friday: More Rain
Friday brought more rain, keeping us inside again. I opted for soft, lightweight leopard-print PJs from Honeydew Intimates—perfect for lounging.
Dinner was at Taverna in Kapalua. It was okay, but probably a one-time visit. Unfortunately, I got a bit sick afterward, likely from my carbonara (more like fettuccine Alfredo!). Troy enjoyed his lasagna though. For dinner, I wore a flowy maxi dress (one of my most-clicked items last week), shell earrings, and sandals. Miller wore an Aloha romper from a local boutique.
Saturday: Sunshine and Pool Time
Saturday finally brought a break in the weather! I went for a morning run and even sat by the pool for a bit—though Miller didn’t swim because the water was freezing. She happily ran around the grass instead.
For my run, I wore another Amazon fitness outfit: a soft, breathable tank tied at the front, a highly supportive sports bra, and biker shorts. Afterward, I changed into a leopard print swim suit (the striped version made my top 10 products in 2019!). Paired with a straw hat and some lip color, I felt confident and ready to enjoy the sun.
Dinner was at Aloha Mixed Plate, right on the water—a must-visit spot. We loved the mixed plate, pineapple upside-down cake, and $4 Mai Tais if you go early! I wore a Revolve crop top, white crop jeans, and my Hermes sandals. Miller’s Aloha romper made her look extra cute for the evening.
Sunday: Rain Returns
Sunday was another rainy day, but I managed a quick run despite the weather. That night, we visited Star Noodle, another Maui favorite. If you’re planning to go, book in advance—it’s popular! Our favorites included:
- Pork buns
- Scallop shots
- Garlic noodles
I wore a mini dress from Tiare Hawaii, Miller in a simple $10 H&M dress. Accessories included my Cult Gaia Mini Ark and Amazon sunglasses.
Travel Wardrobe Favorites
Throughout the week, a few pieces became clear favorites:
- $15 Amazon tanks: soft, breathable, and versatile
- Supportive strappy sports bras: perfect for running and casual outings
- Leopard and striped swimsuits: flattering and confidence-boosting for moms
- Flowy maxi dresses: ideal for dinners and evenings out
Miller’s outfits were mostly casual and practical, with bows and sandals adding the perfect touch of cuteness.
Final Thoughts
Despite the rain, our first week in Maui was full of relaxing moments, good food, and some much-needed family time. Traveling with a toddler is never easy, but planning ahead and packing wisely made everything smoother. From poolside fun to restaurant adventures, Maui is living up to its reputation for stunning scenery and incredible dining.
I’ll be sharing Week 2 next, so stay tuned for more outfit details, family tips, and our adventures around the island. If you have any questions or want links to any of the items we wore, drop a comment below—I’d love to help!
